Habita LLC (“Habita,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and retain personal information when you access or use Habita’s websites, applications, marketplace, booking tools, communications, reports, and related services, collectively, the “Habita Service.”
This Privacy Policy applies to renters, Scout applicants, approved Scouts, website visitors, and others who interact with Habita.
By using the Habita Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with Habita.
1.1 Account and Contact Information
We may collect:
- Name;
- Email address;
- Telephone number;
- Login and account information;
- Profile details;
- Communication preferences; and
- Other information you provide when creating or managing an account.
1.2 Renter and Tour Plan Information
When a renter submits or manages a Tour Plan, we may collect:
- Rental-property addresses and listing links;
- Requested dates, times, and service preferences;
- Questions, concerns, instructions, and selected add-ons;
- Access, scheduling, and property-contact information;
- Messages exchanged through the Habita Service;
- Booking, cancellation, refund, and support history;
- Reviews, ratings, or feedback; and
- Photos, videos, notes, reports, and other materials associated with a Tour Plan.
Renters should provide only information that is reasonably necessary for Habita and a Scout to coordinate and complete the requested service.
1.3 Scout Application and Profile Information
When someone applies to become or operates as a Scout, we may collect:
- Contact and profile information;
- Age and eligibility confirmations;
- Residential area, service area, availability, and travel preferences;
- Experience, interests, qualifications, and application responses;
- Interview, reference, or screening information;
- Profile photos or introductory media;
- Accepted and completed Tour Plan history;
- Performance, reliability, quality, rating, and support information;
- Payment, payout, and tax-related information; and
- Information reasonably necessary to verify identity, eligibility, or compliance with Habita policies.
If Habita later uses a third-party consumer-reporting agency for formal background checks, any disclosures, authorizations, notices, and rights required by applicable law will be provided separately.
1.4 Payment and Payout Information
Payments and Scout payouts may be processed by Stripe or another payment provider.
Habita may receive limited transaction information, such as:
- Payment or payout status;
- Transaction amount;
- Billing name and contact information;
- Payment method type and limited payment identifiers;
- Refund, dispute, and chargeback information; and
- Tax or identity-verification status.
Habita generally does not directly receive or store complete payment-card numbers or bank-account credentials entered through a payment provider.
Payment providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
1.5 Location Information
We may collect general or precise location information when reasonably necessary to:
- Confirm Scout eligibility or service areas;
- Match Scouts with Tour Plans;
- Calculate distance or travel-related charges;
- Support scheduling and property visits;
- Verify completion or investigate a service issue;
- Protect users and prevent misuse; or
- Provide a location-based feature you request.
Device permissions may allow you to control whether precise location information is available to Habita.
1.6 Communications and Support
We may collect communications you send to Habita or exchange through the Habita Service, including:
- Emails;
- Text messages;
- In-app messages;
- Support requests;
- Survey responses;
- Feedback;
- Dispute-related communications; and
- Safety or incident reports.
We may retain and review communications when reasonably necessary to provide support, coordinate Tour Plans, enforce our policies, investigate concerns, or protect Habita and its users.
1.7 Device, Usage, and Technical Information
When you use the Habita Service, we and our service providers may automatically collect information such as:
- IP address;
- Browser type;
- Device type and operating system;
- Device identifiers;
- Referring and visited pages;
- Dates and times of access;
- Feature interactions;
- Approximate location derived from an IP address;
- Cookie and similar technology identifiers;
- Diagnostic and performance information; and
- Security and activity logs.
2. How We Use Information
Habita may use personal information to:
- Create, maintain, verify, and secure accounts;
- Review Scout applications and eligibility;
- Process and coordinate Tour Plans;
- Match renters with Scouts;
- Enable communications between users;
- Deliver photos, videos, notes, and reports;
- Process payments, payouts, refunds, credits, and disputes;
- Provide customer support;
- Review service quality and Scout performance;
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, misuse, safety concerns, and policy violations;
- Protect users, properties, Habita, and third parties;
- Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and improve the Habita Service;
- Develop new features and services;
- Personalize the user experience;
- Send service-related communications;
- Send marketing communications when permitted by law and based on applicable consent or preferences;
- Enforce our Terms of Service and other agreements;
- Comply with legal, tax, accounting, reporting, and regulatory obligations; and
- Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We may use information for another purpose when we provide notice or obtain consent where required.
3. How We Share Information
Habita does not sell personal information for money.
We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances.
3.1 Between Renters and Scouts
We may share information between a renter and an assigned or prospective Scout when reasonably necessary to evaluate, coordinate, accept, perform, or support a Tour Plan.
This may include:
- Names or profile information;
- Property and listing details;
- Scheduling information;
- Renter questions and instructions;
- Relevant access or contact information;
- Messages;
- Scout profile, availability, experience, or rating information; and
- Tour Plan reports and media.
We seek to limit this information to what is reasonably necessary for the transaction. Users may not use information received through Habita for unrelated purposes, harassment, discrimination, solicitation, or attempts to bypass the Habita Service.
3.2 Service Providers
We may share information with companies that help us operate the Habita Service, such as providers of:
- Hosting and cloud infrastructure;
- Authentication and account management;
- Payment and payout processing;
- Mapping and location services;
- Email, text messaging, and communications;
- Analytics and performance monitoring;
- Customer support;
- Security and fraud prevention;
- Identity or eligibility verification; and
- Professional, legal, tax, or accounting services.
These providers may access information only as reasonably necessary to perform services for Habita or as otherwise permitted by their agreements and applicable law.
3.3 Legal, Safety, and Enforcement Reasons
We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with applicable law, legal process, or a lawful governmental request;
- Enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements;
- Detect, investigate, or prevent fraud, abuse, illegal activity, or security incidents;
- Protect the rights, property, privacy, or safety of Habita, users, properties, or others;
- Respond to an emergency; or
- Establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.
3.4 Business Transactions
We may disclose or transfer information in connection with an actual or proposed financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, insolvency proceeding, or other business transaction.
Any successor may continue to use information as described in this Privacy Policy unless otherwise required by law.
3.5 At Your Direction or With Your Consent
We may share information when you direct us to do so, request a feature that requires the disclosure, or otherwise provide consent.
3.6 Aggregated or De-Identified Information
We may use or disclose aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you for analytics, research, business planning, product improvement, and other lawful purposes.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Habita and its service providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels, software-development kits, and similar technologies to:
- Keep users signed in;
- Remember preferences;
- Support essential site functions;
- Protect accounts and prevent fraud;
- Understand how the Habita Service is used;
- Diagnose errors;
- Measure performance; and
- Improve the user experience.
You may be able to manage cookies through your browser or device settings. Blocking some cookies may prevent portions of the Habita Service from functioning properly.
Where required by law, Habita will provide additional notice or choices concerning nonessential cookies.
5. Communications and Marketing Choices
Habita may send service-related communications concerning:
- Account access or security;
- Scout applications;
- Tour Plans;
- Scheduling and matching;
- Reports;
- Payments, payouts, refunds, or disputes;
- Safety or support matters; and
- Legal or policy updates.
These communications are part of operating the Habita Service and may continue even if you opt out of marketing.
Habita may send promotional emails or marketing text messages as permitted by law and based on any consent or preferences you provide.
You may opt out of promotional emails by using the unsubscribe link in the message. You may opt out of an applicable marketing text-message program by replying STOP or following the instructions provided with the message.
Opting out of marketing does not affect service-related communications.
6. Data Retention
Habita retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to:
- Maintain accounts;
- Complete and document Tour Plans;
- Process payments and payouts;
- Provide reports and support;
- Resolve complaints, refunds, chargebacks, and disputes;
- Prevent fraud and misuse;
- Maintain safety, quality, and transaction records;
- Comply with tax, accounting, legal, and regulatory obligations;
- Enforce agreements; and
- Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Retention periods may vary based on the type of information and the reason it was collected.
If you close your account or request deletion, Habita may delete, de-identify, or restrict information that is no longer reasonably necessary. We may retain certain information when required or permitted by law, including transaction records, payment and payout records, dispute information, security logs, legal records, and backup copies.
Information shared with another user as part of a completed Tour Plan may remain in that user’s account or records.
7. Data Security
Habita uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information.
However, no website, application, transmission method, or storage system is completely secure. Habita cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, used, altered, or disclosed without authorization.
You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and for notifying Habita promptly if you suspect unauthorized account activity.
8. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have the right to request that Habita:
- Confirm whether we process your personal information;
- Provide access to certain personal information;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Delete certain information;
- Provide a portable copy of certain information;
- Restrict or object to certain processing; or
- Honor another privacy right provided by applicable law.
You may also update certain account information directly through the Habita Service when that functionality is available.
Privacy rights are not absolute. Habita may need to verify your identity and may retain or decline to delete information when permitted by law, including information needed for transactions, payouts, disputes, fraud prevention, security, legal compliance, or the establishment or defense of claims.

Habita may request additional information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and process the request. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law, subject to appropriate verification.
Habita will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
9. California Privacy Information
California residents may have additional rights under California privacy law where that law applies to Habita and the particular information or processing activity.
The categories of personal information Habita may collect are described in Section 1. The business and operational purposes for collection are described in Section 2, and the categories of parties to whom information may be disclosed are described in Section 3.
Habita does not sell personal information for money.

Habita may verify the request and may deny or limit a request as permitted by applicable law.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Habita Service is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old.
Habita does not knowingly collect personal information through the Habita Service from anyone under 18. If we learn that we collected personal information from a person under 18 in violation of this policy, we may delete or restrict the information as appropriate.
A parent or guardian who believes a minor has provided personal information may contact [email protected].
11. Third-Party Websites and Services
The Habita Service may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites, rental listings, maps, payment providers, or other services.
Habita does not control the privacy or security practices of those third parties. Information you provide directly to a third party is governed by that party’s privacy policy and terms.
A link or integration does not mean Habita owns, controls, or endorses the third party.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Habita may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in the Habita Service, our practices, or applicable law.
The revised policy will display an updated “Last Updated” date. When required by law, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
Your continued use of the Habita Service after an updated Privacy Policy is posted constitutes acknowledgment of the revised policy.
